INSPIRE ME: watercolour painting

Happy New Year!!

I really love this time of the year, it's such a nice time to refect on the past year and to plan and look forward to the year ahead :) I love to continually keep learning and working on my art skills so I'm looking into choosing some courses for the year ahead!

At the end of last year I enrolled in an 8 week watercolour course at a Sydney community college.
I've never had painting lessons before so it was really cool learning how to mix the paints and how to create something I was proud of! I also loved having one night a week allocated to being creative and being able to catch up with my friend Annie who did the course with me :)

Our teacher was soooo talented! If you follow me on instagram you may have seen some of the photos I posted of his work, or you can check out his website. I especially like his travelling paintings!

It was awesome being able to watch a professional paint and have him give us advice and guidance! It was actually amazing how much we all improved from our first lesson.

The most vital thing I learnt was that with watercolour painting you want to start off as light as possible and then the build up the colour and details.

Here are some of my paintings :)

1. Cherry pie 2. Santorini 3. Colby the labrador 4. Monty the beagle
